Air Conditioning
Air-conditioning information to be used with attached Smart Temp Elegance SMT 700FW instructions specific to Freshwater Place.
Heat & Cool temperature values
Zone Programming When to program Zone 1 ONLY · If the apartment has 2 (some even have 3) main A/C units each having their own panel, all individual units need to be on Zone 1 only. · This is generally most high-rise apartment levels 39-59 but there are a few exceptions so always check when in apartment. · If they have only one unit refer to Zone 1 & 2 programming.
When to program both Zone 1 & 2
How to select fan only mode
- The system does not automatically turn completely ON or OFF unless you do it (as you would do using the ON/OFF button).
- We recommend that if you feel the temperature in your apartment is comfortable to turn the unit completely off; this will save on energy & costs.
- The system does not allow for temperatures to be changed by pressing the UP or DOWN buttons. A HEAT & COOL temperature value must be set.
Heat & Cool temperature values
- A HEAT & COOL temperature value must be programmed in.
- The HEAT & COOL values must be set to 2 degrees apart; the HEAT value must be lower than the COOL value. Please refer to Smart Temp Elegance instructions.
- For example to set a standard comfortable temperature of 21C the HEAT value must be set to 20C & the COOL temperature must be set to 22C.
- Essentially this means that when the physical temperature in the apartment drops below 21C the heating will start, when the physical temperature in the apartment rises to 22C the cooling will start.
- This works for any desired temperature, another example - for a desired temperature of 19C the HEATvalue must be set to 18C & the COOL value must be set to 20C.
- In most high-rise apartments there are two air-conditioning units, one for the lounge area and another in the bedrooms. Some even have three – all must be on ZONE 1 to work effectively.
- When there is more than one unit DO NOT SELECT ZONE 2 as the system will not work correctly.
- Please be mindful that the ON/OFF button also controls the zone functions so that when turning the unit ON or OFF to ensure that ZONE 1 only is displayed on the panel.
- In the lounge area there is 75% of ventilation coming through the ducts so you will easily be able to tell that it is working.
- In the bedrooms there is 25% ventilation because of the smaller area. When checking the bedroom vents you will need to hold a tissue and be very close to the vent as the air only blows out of a certain section of the vent. Residents can not expect the same kind of airflow in the bedrooms as you receive in the lounge area.
When to program both Zone 1 & 2
- If the apartment has only one main unit with one main panel & a sensor in the bedroom the unit must be on Zone 1 & 2.
- This is generally most Podium levels 3, 6, 8 & Mid-rise levels 11 – 38 but again there are a few exceptions so always check when in apartment.
- If they have more than one unit refer to Zone 1 programming.
- Most Podium & Mid-rise apartments have one air-conditioning unit in the lounge area and a sensor in the main bedroom.
- Set the Control unit to ZONE 1 and you will have cooling/heating in the lounge area only.
- Set the Control unit to ZONE 2 and you will have cooling/heating in the bedroom only.
- Set the Control unit to ZONE 1 & ZONE 2 and the system will use the control box in the lounge room and the sensor in the Bedroom to give an even temperature over the whole apartment.
How to select fan only mode
- This function is handy if some air-circulation is required in your apartment but you are concerned about cold drafts, particularly at night whilst sleeping.
- Make sure the unit is ON.
- The M (mode) button alternates between HEAT or COOL (or both) air-conditioning.
- Repeat pressing the M (mode) button until the words HEAT and COOL are not displayed on the display panel.
- The air-conditioning unit is now in fan only mode which means there will be air circulation only and the air is not conditioned.
- Use the fan button to increase or decrease the strength of the air flow; Low, Medium or High.
